domesticated

So I spent the last 2 weeks moving in to my new crib. Moving houses is such a pain. Before my current place I lived in a spare room at my cousin's apartment in the eastern burb and boy do I have a lot of crap.
That's only half of my stuff. I did some major cull prior to my move and I still have lots of stuff. I shall do cull #2 sometime in the next couple of weeks. Watch this space. I've finished unpacking everything now but I still have bits and bops here and there, but that is because I don't have anywhere to put them as yet.

Here's a story about my move. I had to get a fridge and washing machine because well, they are essential. Mr Liz is a cheap ass though so he insist to buy second hand. We did manage to snag a second hand fridge for $200 from an apartment a couple blocks away from my apartment. We didn't bother to hire a ute/removalist for this because we thought that a hand trolley should be sufficient. That trolley was quite helpful and we managed to get the fridge up to my apartment on level 3, but not before giving me the biggest bruise I've ever had in my life.
A friend of my cousin kindly gave me his old washing machine for free. I happily accept this because hey it is free stuff. This guy also live about 500 m from my apartment. Unfortunately the hand trolley I used to carry my fridge up to my apartment is available-no-more (long story) so I had to recruit 2 of my man-friend to help Mr Liz and my cousin's friend (a dude..) carry this up. The washing machine was really heavy even when there's 4 dudes carrying it and it took a lot of effort to get it up to my apartment. They did a good job so I paid them with beer. All this moving reminds me of the scene in Friends where Ross was trying to carry a couch up the stairs with Chandler and Joey. "PIVOT!!!"
Lesson learnt: Removalist are expensive for a reason........

Bought this vacuum during Myer mid season sale. It's pretty good but I should probably get a bigger "real" vacuum cleaner. It sucks well & really flexible. Loving not having to fuss on cords when I'm vacuuming.

My living room looks like this now. The curtain came with the apartment. It's so ugly. I'm thinking of getting a cheap IKEA one to replace this. The sofa is $100 sofa bed that Mr Liz got from Gumtree. It's still in a good condition and love the leather-ette. I thoroughly vacuumed & obsessively wiped this sofa with ajax spray and white to disinfect and basically un-gross it.
I have a dining room!!!!! Can you believe I haven't had a meal in a dining table for over 4 years (the odd dinners at my aunt's excepted) My cousin don't have a dining table in his apartment and the place I lived before that was a boarding house and their dining table was totally gross.

I love IKEA, for once I went to IKEA and actually bought furniture. I'm not finished with decorating as yet so I'll visit again soon....
I bought fresh flowers & put them on my dining table. I used to think that fresh flowers are waste of money, so I never bought it, until my friend told me that fresh flowers makes her happy and less lonely (both of us live alone) so I gave flowers a shot. They do make the house look fresher & less depressing..
I'm trying to incorporate seafood to my diet so tried Swordfish for the first time ever yesterday. It was quite good. and how good is Woolies' olive sourdough ??? love them. especially when they are on sale for $3.. and still warm!
Ordered this bling-tastic iphone cover for my work phone. They're only $13 or something including postage from eBay. Run don't walk. These babies are usually $30 in shops. rip off I say
If you follow my instagram, you'll know that I bought 2 pairs of new shoes from Wittner. Love them, so comfy.

Ok I probably should start doing something productive. 1.5 hrs to go till the weekend. Enjoy peeps. xx

all hail Saturdays!!!!!!

Having a lazy Saturday today. Actually not really. I started the day doing house inspections near my good old uni because I need to move out soon (bro coming to town for uni so need bigger space). Then lunch at nearby mall.. had some good old takeaway Chinese that I used to eat a lot when I was at uni and living around the area. Brings back memories. Stopped by Lush, got free face massage and picked up couple of stuff:

I tried their blueberry (Catastrophe something) mask in store but end up buying the Cosmetic Warrior mask because it contains ingredients that I've used and proven to work on my skin (eggs, honey, tree tea oil). I also picked up the Rub Rub Rub scrub because it's blue and pretty (totally solid reason to purchase stuff..)
I quite like the Rub Rub Rub but I don't think it's much better than my current regular scrub from Sukin. The mask is quite good too, I notice that it reduces redness on my skin just after I use it. The one negative thing is that.. it smells FOUL. I read a couple of reviews online and people are complaining about the garlic smell, but for me it is the egg smell that is just BLEURRGHHH YUCK. Good thing that it dries quick so I only have to put up with the smell for 10 minutes. The Rub Rub Rub also have this weird smell.. it sort of smells like cleaning products. I quite like cleaning product smell though.... because it smells um... clean.

Anyone a fan of Lush? any recommendations for things to buy? They have so many stuff. I was pretty overwhelmed.

I stopped by Rozelle markets on the way. It was already a bit late so people are packing up. Saw the cutest Dachshund pin but it was expensive so I didn't buy. Then I went back home and ummm went shopping again for these...

Dorothy Perkins sent me an email saying that they are having 30% off selected items, so I went for a browse and found that they have a further 10% off sale items. Sweet. The further 10% only applies for the polkadot top though. I then went to look for another code and found a further 15% code that works for the dresses. Epic. I paid $60 for these three goodies. I have been after a good stripe dress and a nice plain maxi dress. I think all of these will look nice in the upcoming autumn/winter. I've had great experience with Dorothy Perkins so I'm hoping that these will be in decent quality and fits well.

There's always this argument in Vogue forums about buying a good quality item for a high price once or buying a lot of cheapie clothes (you know what I mean right???) I'll let this kiddo explain my opinion on this:

Honestly I don't need to have a super-quality basic or some other clothes to last for 5 years. It is more likely that I'll get sick of it in a year or so. So I just don't get the point of getting $100 T-Wang plain shirt whilst I can buy a nice one for $10ish from Dotti. Different story with bags and shoes though. I'm not a bag lady so I usually wear one bag everyday for a long long time. For this reason I like my bag to be reasonably good quality. Bags from Strandbags or Collette just don't cut it for me. I also insist on leather shoes. Sorry vegans, but synthetic heels really, really hurts my feet. I'm fine with synthetic flat sandals though. Which side are you on?

Sitting on the couch watching Die Hard 4 with a bottle of mango cider now. Yum. Enjoy your weekend peeps xx

The white shirt

I have been ooh and aah-ing over A.P.C's work ever since my bf introduced me to it through his enthusiasm to their New Cure Raw denim. I still don't get what is up with raw denim as to me it's all the same- but what I love with A.P.C is it's simplicity and high quality fabric. I purchased this shirt last thursday from Barneys NY. It came to my work place on monday but I received it just yesterday because mr postie dropped my pack to the wrong office! boo. The DHL people was very nice and fixed it quickly though. I'm still very happy with the shipping, 4 days from the US, how good is that.

I am a bit dissapointed by the fabric though, it's thinner than what I thought it will be, a bit sheer even. Definitely a white shirt for summer days. Luckily it fits well, a wee bit too long on the arms but it's fine (I have short arms). Hopefully it will last me for quite some time. (no photos yet.. sorry :P)

Now behold some food porn....

Went to eat in Menya noodle bar, Sydney CBD last Tuesday.  I've been wanting to try since forever..... but just never made it here. It's probably because of its location; it's kind of hidden under the big BT tower building in Market St. I ordered the Menya tonkatsu ramen and the Mr ordered Kimchi ramen. I love them both equally... the tonkatsu ramen is probably the best in the Sydney, the broth is soooo rich and the slightly gooey egg completes the dish. Loved it loved it loved it.

On Friday I went to Ichiban Sushi Train in Mona Vale, in the Northern Beaches of Sydney. That day I thought that we're going to the $25 Sushi Choo train in the Ivy, but the mr actually meant that he wanted to go to here.. That day was probably the first time that I had an epic communication problem with the Mr.. hehe. Luckily I managed to catch the bus alright. The place is not too far but gawd damn Sydney buses took me for a ride for an hour until I reach the place. The food was worth it though...

The place is quite new but there's already a few patrons there when we came in. When we finished the place was fully packed. The first thing I notice here is that the Sushi are not conventional... well not traditional at all compared to other sushi trains (but then again I don't go to much sushi trains) First there's chicken sushi with red rice (yum), kingfish sashimi, which is the catch of the day, which is so plump, juicy and fresh of course, then a grilled prawn with cheese and some sort of bbq sauce, as well as seafood sticks with cheese and bbq sauce (last pic). This one is my favourite plate:

Prawns and unagi. Yum. I wish I had more. The mr cringes to the idea of sashimi with cheese and mayo, but I loved it. a lot. I'm definitely going to come back.

My Glassons order.. I bought 2x of merino wool tops that everyone have been raving about. It's nice, warm and pretty cuddly... good value as well I suppose... Loved the packaging, it's actually better than Barney's! Barney's one only comes in a dhl brown envelope thing, boo.

So there's my week. 2 more working days to the long weekend!!! Who's looking forward to it??

Come to mama

Michael Kors Jet Set Sport Watch
So I spent my whole morning being jittery in my work desk because I got a Shopbop code from vogue forums. This baby is coming to its mama now..which means that I have everything in my autumn/winter shop list now. I'm still missing a navy but bright blue pencil skirt (confusing?? well I want what Joan Holloway is wearing in Mad Men! something like this).. and I missed out on the leather look black skater skirt thing. but meh surely they'll come back soon!

The black ASOS AGGIE boots came last week and I LOVE it so much omg. I'm not wearing it today though because it was soaked by stupid Sydney rain yesterday! I'm so looking daggy this morning when travelling to work with trainers, but if that's what it takes to preserve my shoes then I'll do it!! and it's more comfortable anyway.

I went down to the South Coast on the easter break, but I'll tell about it later- pics are at the mr's camera and he needs to edit it and convert it to JPEG first yada yada. I don't get boys and their cameras, whats the point of taking pic in .RAW first when you will eventually change it to JPEG?? gahh. Here's my instagram pics for now- complete with the obligatory blogger style outfit pic muhaha

sunnies. check. dramatic background. check. the 'i'm so cool, not smiling' pout - check. thunder calves- check!!!!!!!!!!! sigh I swear it doesnt look like that bad (like a turnip) in real life!!

Pretty forest lah

Cake shop in Bowral. I feel slack for taking pics but not buying any, but we brought with us some garlic prawn baguettes for brekky. Which was awesome btw.

Wino night in our hotel/apartment. That Jacobs Creek Sauv blanc is the best cheapo Sauv blanc that I've ever had. But then again I'm a total noob in wines..

the mr went to a 'catch up' job interview today, fingers crossed that he'll get it!!

all the nails and shiz

Life has been pretty damn boring and I have assignment due on wednesday! just FYI I work full time and doing the degree part time (its the Dip. of Financial Planning). I've been bludging for so long and haven't been studying for even longer, so getting my ass back to study is sooo hard.
I should do fine though! its not that hard because most of the stuff I've already known from work or from my bachelor degree... but still.. 100+page of assignment is still a pain..

Got these babies in the mail last week, OzSale really took their time in sending them... I'm loving all the colours though!

I went to the new Darling Quarter at Darling Harbour on saturday night. So pretty!! what a perfect night out- steak, mojito and live music! bliss.
The said mojito.. can't believe that I have never had one before (I might have one in Bali but not too sure if thats actually a mojito). where have you been all my life??? anyway the restaurant that I tried was Stacks Tavern (Taverna?) which is the one closest to the convention centre & furthest from playground. I had the rump steak with chips and the boy had pepperoni pizza.
I didn't take photo of them though because they dont really look pretty haha (unless if you think that a slab of meat with gravy is pretty!) They are delicious but not woah. I think it's pretty good value though- $69 for the two of us already including the mojito :)

The mojito outfit. Can u see my belly button?? haha.

ASOS AGGIE boots

... yes another one!! :) looking forward to have it in my claws next week!

the jumper and apparently I am a versatile blogger??

My ASOS order came on monday this week and I absolutely love it. these are what I bought:
Image 1 of ASOS AGGIE Suede Pull On Casual Heel Ankle Boots
ASOS Aggie boots
Image 1 of ASOS Big Hearts Sheer Tights
heart tights
Image 1 of ASOS Aran Jumper
cream aran jumper

The Aggie boots is gorgeous and comfortable despite of the 8.5cm heels. I don't even notice the heels when I wear it, feels more like a 5cm-er for me. the colour is exactly the same as pictured. the cream jumper is nice and comfortable too despite of having a little loose knit on the arm (so it looks like a mini hole). I thought that it's going to be a thin jumper but it is quite thick and cozy.

I didn't think that the cream jumper is a 'basic' but then realised that they may be more versatile than the grey pullover that I planned to buy. made this polyvore as a reminder just in case if im having a moment of 'idonnowhattowearwithmyjumper'
the cream aran jumper I just bought from asos yesterday - similar to this one. I just realised that they are versatile as shiz. awesome.
anyway Lydia awarded me with Versatile blogger awards! yay so apparently I'm versatile haha. I thought that I only write about clothes and crap haha. hopefully I'll be able to write more different and interesting stuff in the future. Thanks again Lydia for the award! :)

2012 goals

One of my 2012 resolutions is to enjoy life and document it more. and what better way is there to do so other than 'le blogging'? I have had many blogs before that I fail to upkeep, and this year, I swear, I plan to blog at least twice a week. I'd also like to do some outfit posts (still figuring out how to take pictures in the morning using my camera.. for some reason I can't change its timer from 3 sec to 10 sec.. 3 sec is not enough for me to pose duh..) and make the blog as me as possible.

Anyways. So I am now just back into the adult reality.. back to work and stuff.. from a 1 month holiday in my home country (and 3 days recovering from jet lag). My holiday was really good despite of the sickness and rain and traffic and polution, which are expected. Meeting and catching up with family and all friends is always good isn't it. the worst part of my holiday is of course the goodbyes.. it doesn't get any easier even when I've lived far away from my parents for more than 4 years now. I of course get the mini-few hours episode of being depressed and sad to know that I'm alone again in another country.. but after a shaky flight and a few good sleeps, I think I'm coping well with coming back to 'real life'.

I didn't shop as much as I have expected when I was in Indonesia, though my boy did (tailored suits, shirts, men shoes are so much cheaper there.. women's clothing are not that much cheaper). I do think that I shop ENOUGH, and imposed a shopping ban for myself once I landed in Sydney, BUT ASOS, well they screw it all. I 'accidentally' bought the following :D

Image 1 of ASOS PETITE Exclusive High Waisted Wide Leg Trousers
Asos PETITE Exclusive High Waist pants
Image 1 of ASOS PETITE Exclusive Tuxedo Jumpsuit With Ruffle Detail
ASOS Petite Tuxedo jumpsuit with ruffle details
(Gonna look so good with my Jeffrey Campbell wedges)

(Planning to wear this with slouchy black tees)

Motel Leopard Pencil Skirt
Image 4 of ASOS Cotton Pussybow Blouse
ASOS Cotton pussybow blouse
(bought AU 10 by accident, hopefully its not too big! I look forward for this item the most)

Voguettes have been raving about their delivery lately (4 days I heard) so hoping to get these items really soon! I also bought this Pinnochio wedges from Wittner yesterday for $60
Pinochio-Wittner Shoes, Fashion wedges
I have been looking for a brown wedges for ages and this one is perrrrrrfectttt. I also really want this red pumps but I didn't get it because they don't have my size in store yesterday :(
Jasper-Wittner Shoes, Fashion heels
Going to look around on the weekends.. if I find it on my size then, well, God of Shoes must want me to have this baby!! though I really shouldn't.. my attempts to follow my shopping ban is laughable... I swear I'm not gonna shop again from February!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SAVINGS HERE I COMEEEE

have a great friday folks........ xxxxxxxxxxxx
